A New Cloud on the Horizon?

It has become a bit of a broken record, but security is still one of the major concerns that prohibits businesses moving to the cloud.

Despite the counterarguments to this, IBM and AT&T have announced plans to launch a ‘highly secure, first-of-its-kind “network-enabled” cloud service that uses private networks and virtual private network technology rather than the public internet.’

Combining AT&Ts new virtual private networks (VPNs) with IBM’s SmartCloud Enterprise+, this cloud service is targeted at enterprise level businesses, rather than SMBs.

Despite the expected premium cost, large businesses may decide that the benefits in efficiency gains with the peace of mind that IBM promise with their security tools mean that the this service is worth the expense.
