DIY Fibre Broadband Network

As more people move to hosted software and platforms and with increased demand for streaming media content, connectivity will become increasingly important.

Whilst large providers, along with local and national government assistance are investing in improved broadband services, one village in Lancashire has a group of volunteers who have taken it upon themselves to build their own fibre optic network in their village.

The B4RN (Broadband for the Rural North) network volunteers in Arkholme are digging channels and laying fibre, in order to achieve up to 1Gbps download speed.
